It is an early intervention school whose mission is to lead struggling teens to fulfill their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ.

Teens come to Master Ranch – West from across the country, including from Hillsboro, Oregon. Parents often find it advantageous to experience a new environment detached from their boy’s negative peers.

Military-Like Academy, With a Heart

Master Ranch – West is a military-like school unlike any other. We include a military academy, an accredited school, and a working ranch and farm offering competitive team sports, a spiritual emphasis, and hands-on vocational training. All of these are meant to bring about new interests and hope, to change in a boy’s heart and life.

Spiritual life is also the cornerstone component of Master Ranch – West. We are dedicated to introducing every teen to His Maker. Many teenagers who attend have rebelled against their spiritual heritage or have never professed any faith. This program offers an open environment for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time.

Leadership Training

Besides helping capable students learn to apply themselves academically, we present specific leadership training to unlock the potential in each child. We teach teens to serve and love each other. Community service projects and real jobs provide real life experience and application of the leadership principles learned at MR-West.

Academics

Boys who attend Master’s Ranch – West go to a fully accredited high school that operates under a model of classroom and independent study. Students work through courses, with weekly goals set by teaching staff based on the student’s program of study. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. MR-West also supports students to prepare for post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.

Our Positive Culture

boys at boarding schoolThe caring staff here at Master’s Ranch recognizes that teens and their parents today face enormous pressure from the culture. Teens are surrounded by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The MR-West model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which states that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they embrace the positive values of serving and caring for others.

Many boys in our military school program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to a life of serving others. If your teenage boy needs order and discipline to turn his life around, please consider MR-West.

Athletics at MRCA play a role in leadership development and character growth as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every teen is encouraged to play at least one sport because of the valuable life skills that can be learned. Master Ranch – West offers a number of sports programs.

More about military schools in Hillsboro, Oregon:

Hillsboro is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. Lying in the Tualatin Valley on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area, the city is home to many high-technology companies, such as Intel, that compose what has become known as the Silicon Forest. As of the 2010 Census, the city’s population was 91,611.
For thousands of years before the arrival of European-American settlers, the Atfalati tribe of the Kalapuya lived in the Tualatin Valley near the later site of Hillsboro. The climate, moderated by marine influence from the Pacific Ocean, helped make the region suitable for fishing, hunting, food gathering, and agriculture. Settlers founded a community here in 1842, later named after David Hill, an Oregon politician. Transportation by riverboat on the Tualatin River was part of Hillsboro’s settler economy. A railroad reached the area in the early 1870s and an interurban electric railway about four decades later. These railways, as well as highways, aided the slow growth of the city to about 2,000 people by 1910 and about 5,000 by 1950, before the arrival of high-tech companies in the 1980s.
Hillsboro has a council-manager government consisting of a city manager and a city council headed by a mayor. In addition to high-tech industry, sectors important to Hillsboro’s economy are health care, retail sales, and agriculture, including grapes and wineries. The city operates more than twenty parks and the mixed-use Hillsboro Stadium, and nine sites in the city are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Modes of transportation include private vehicles, public buses and light rail, and aircraft using the Hillsboro Airport. The city is home to Pacific University’s Health Professions Campus. Notable residents include two Oregon governors.
