Military-Like Discipline, With a Heart

Master Ranch – West is a military-like school unlike any other. We have a military academy, an accredited school, as well as a working ranch and farm offering competitive team sports, a spiritual emphasis, and hands-on vocational training. All of these are meant to bring about new interests and hope, to change in a boy’s heart and life.

Spiritual life is also the cornerstone component of Master Ranch – West. We are committed to introducing every student to His Maker. Many teens who attend have moved away from their spiritual heritage or have never professed any faith. This program offers an open environment for them to take ownership of their faith, as they may never have done before.

Leadership Training

boarding school for boysMaster Ranch – West exclusively works with troubled or at-risk boys. Besides helping capable students learn to apply themselves academically, we present specific leadership training to unlock the potential in each child. We teach teens to serve and love other people. Community service events and real jobs offer real life experience and application of the leadership principles taught at MR-West.

Academics

Boys who attend Master’s Ranch – West go to a fully accredited high school that employs a model of classroom and independent study. Students complete courses, with weekly objectives set by teaching staff based on the student’s chosen course work. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. MR-West also encourages students to work toward post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.

Our Positive Culture

boys at boarding schoolThe caring staff here at Master’s Ranch acknowledges that teenagers and their parents today face huge challenges from the culture. Teens are surrounded by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The MR-West model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which believes that teens can develop self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they become committed to the positive values of serving and caring for others.

Many boys in our military school program turn from their self-destructive behavior to an attitude of serving others. If your teenager needs order and discipline to change his direction, please consider MR-West.

Athletics at MRCA contribute to leadership development and character growth as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every student is encouraged to participate in at least one sport because of the valuable life skills that can be learned. Master Ranch – West offers a number of sports programs.

More about military schools in Butte, Montana:

Butte is a city in Montana and the county seat of Silver Bow County, United States.GR In 1977, the city and county governments consolidated to form the sole entity of Butte-Silver Bow. As of the 2010 census, Butte’s population was 34,200. Butte is currently Montana’s fifth largest city.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Butte experienced every stage of development of a mining town, from camp to boomtown to mature city to center for historic preservation and environmental cleanup. Unlike most such towns, Butte’s urban landscape includes mining operations set within residential areas, making the environmental consequences of the extraction economy all the more apparent. Despite the dominance of the Anaconda Company, Butte was never a company town. It prided itself on architectural diversity and a civic ethos of rough-and-tumble individualism. In the 21st century, efforts at interpreting and preserving Butte’s heritage are addressing both the town’s historical significance and the continuing importance of mining to its economy and culture.
Butte was one of the largest cities west of the Mississippi for generations. Silver Bow county (Butte and suburbs) had 24,000 people in 1890, and peaked at 60,000 in 1920. Then the population steadily declined to 34,000 in 1990 and stabilized. In its heyday between the late 19th century and about 1920, it was one of the largest and most notorious copper boomtowns in the American West, home to hundreds of saloons and a famous red-light district. The documentary Butte, America depicts its history as a copper producer and the issues of labor unionism, economic rise and decline, and environmental degradation that resulted from the activity.
The city is served by Bert Mooney Airport with airport code BTM.
