One of the most frequently asked questions that is heard from parents and other referral resources is this: “Why should I send my son to a one-year program such as Jubilee Leadership Academy when there are much shorter treatment programs out there, some which only last from 10 – 30 days?”
While not all boys who come to our program are addicts, for those who are, research shows that addiction is a chronic condition that cannot be overcome by simply discontinuing the use of drugs or alcohol. It is a condition that benefits from focused, evidence-based professional care and treatment. Long-term rehabilitation programs such as what we offer at Jubilee Leadership Academy provide intensive and structured treatments and by helping the young men to sustain abstinence, as well as to reclaim their life at the completion of the stay on our campus.
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 8.6% of the population in the United States, or approximately 22.7 million Americans, needed addiction treatment in 2013 alone. In the same year, only 2.5 million, or 0.9% of those 22.7 million people received treatment. The remaining 20.2 million did not receive the necessary treatment for their addiction.
Addiction is a disease that significantly affects an individual’s physical and mental health. One single addition treatment approach is not appropriate for everyone because substance misuse affects each person differently. At times it is necessary to seek proper care from an addiction rehabilitation center that offers long-term treatment programs in order to bolster the chances of long-term sobriety.
On the campus of Jubilee Leadership Academy, our highly skilled team works with struggling male teens with long-standing or severe addictions. We specialize in the care of dually diagnosed individuals (teens who struggle with both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health disorder).
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, highly structured long-term programs in therapeutic communities typically last around 12 months. Our Christ-centered campus is recommended for struggling teens who are exhibiting recovery challenges as part of a more standard, shorter-term inpatient or residential rehabilitation center, or struggling teens who have experienced multiple relapses and other difficulties after completion of one of the shorter inpatient programs.
